How to co-ordinate a closed over-the-board (OTB) Chess Tournament.

Chess federations have calendars that show available open tournaments, but what happens when you do not wish to publish it on their site. Let's say you want to create a closed chess tournament that is reserved for your local or regional community. Let's also say it's going to happen in your local park or recreational centre.

How would you go about it, to find local players to attend ?
Strange question. If you don’t advertise you have to invite them personally!? Your home is your castle, you decide who is allowed to come in.

Like „Amber melody“, invitational tournaments. I guess no official rating evaluation is required? All the better.
Is the federation the only place to advertise a chess meet. Not everyone thinks of going to that site to search for chess clubs or chess meets. They might think of going to that site only for official open tournaments.

What other ways would be good to help gather local chess players. Maybe setup a giant chess set in a park and a place to display the chess announcement is a solution. It doesn't stop the players from getting their games rated.

My question could have been: How do we make and advertise a summer chess club?

How would a chess player discover there is a chess club in the area without searching for it on the internet?

If the local chess players don't read the newspaper or listen to the local radio, it seems hopeless to inform them of the event.

If the chess player's in your region are on a chess site, then it might be easier to create a local team and then inform them on the forum. Creating a chess team gives a chance for chess players to contact a few chess friends for an OTB chess tournament.

When a chess player does not search for a tournament or chess club, the radio feels like my only option to pass the word that a round robin tournament is planned for the weekend.

I'm trying to brain storm ideas to find ways to quickly help contact our local chess players. I already have a local team in my profile, but the team is not increasing in members. A chess player is permitted to join the team if they are willing to play OTB in my town.

How does a chess team or club get new members?
