Just make sure that you don't get too cocky. Whenever I cross an important barrier, I end up getting cocky with my new rating group and I fall right back down.

To answer your question, in my experience 1400 players typically don't leave pieces hanging anymore but they often miss common tactics like knight forks, or putting their queen where she can be pinned to the king. Learn to recognize and take advantage of tactical opportunities and you will reach 1500 fast.
