English opening

is it good for a beginner to go deep into studying an opening or two for each color?
specifically what do you guys think about English opening?

No, it is not good for a beginner to study openings: tactics and endgames are far more important.
Do not play two openings, pick one and stick to it.

If you play the Sicilian Defence 1 e4 c5 as black, then it makes sense to open 1 c4 as white.
The english is bad for a beginner IMO because it can transpose into so many other openings which you would need some knowledge of...
Stick to 1.e4 for now :)

At the very beginning i would not recommend c4 or the sicilian. In the very early stages a beginner could simply not unterstand why in the hell c4 is a good move. You need to hurry with developing your pieces, you need to control the center - that is what a beginner is told after he learned the rules. c4 achieves that in fact, but how do explain this to a beginner who just learned the rules?
After knowing how you start the game you can try c4 if you like. If you play the sicilian with black and like it- it could be good idea for example, as it was said before.
