LICHESS, you guys have to do a much better job against the engine users. in the last 5 days i have played and reported 23 accounts for possible engine use... 22 of them have been banned. but the issue is not refunding the proper amount of points. this is getting out of hand. i enjoy the site but a much better job is needed by the administrators...

You're worried about the amount of points? Kind of anal in my opinion. Especially considering I bet 2 out of those 22 accounts were false accusations. Granted.. 20 were probably correct, but those 2 are stuck with guilt without ability to prove innocence. Rating points are not that accurate anyway. If they refund points that is fine, but who cares? Maybe start being like most titled players and forget ratings exist.

@MeWantCookieMobile

The guy explicitly said, "...this is NOT about refunding the proper amount of points."

@AndySaffle

Don't give up Andy, sometimes it comes and goes in spates, but overall, it's less and less thanks to people like you.

Thanks for taking the time to make this a better place, Andy, keep up the great work.

Have you considered that one of your friends/enemies is playing a joke on you?
Try just accepting challenges instead of making your own.
See if that makes a difference.

In my opinion they already do amazing against engine users. Luckily I have only had a handful of refunds where i lost to a cheater. Something about chess just helps bring out the bad side in people... maybe due to the frustration that is the game..

Hhahaha okay lets analyze that then.

"LICHESS, you guys have to do a much better job against the engine users. in the last 5 days i have played and reported 23 accounts for possible engine use... 22 of them have been banned. but the issue is not refunding the proper amount of points. this is getting out of hand. i enjoy the site but a much better job is needed by the administrators.."

If what you say is true @Onyx_Chess then.. What would you say is the actual issue. Because he states: "You guys have to do a better job." Then states how many were banned. Then says, "The issue is not refunding the proper amount of points." Which is in English inferred that is the problem. "Not refunding the proper amount of points." If he was stating that the issues was something else, he would have stated another issue in detail. And the sentence properly worded would probably look like, "The issue is not about refunding.."

Also the only real issue stated in his comment is that as an issue. So if there is a problem where is it implied, because there must either be an implication or he is just not saying anything.....

If the amount of people banned is the issue, then the whole statement about points is not even an addition that should be made. I would imagine if you were correct the correct wording would be, " This is not about points, but" then give either the rehash about the amount of engines, or give a verdict on what the issue is.

@MeWantCookieMobile He's clearly inferring that he comes here to play against people and not against engines.
This is crystal clear. Nothing more, nothing less.
If you have any doubt, you can ask him yourself.

Why aren't you helping me thank him for taking the time to report dozens of people instead of just blocking them and making them someone else's problem?

@dooeyDecimal Chess tends to attract people on the spectrum.

@Onyx_Chess Because it obviously isn't that clear. And I don't care if people use engines online. It doesn't hurt me.

I do not understand all that complaining about engines. If somebody enjoys to drag some machine's moves with his mouse - fine. I think it is a boring job for him.
For me it is still a chess match where I have to try to make good moves and where I can learn from my bad moves. No difference between a chess software or some faceless but real person behind the nickname.

And than you Cookies for making English syntax clear.

@Sybotes It is hard to improve your chess level and understand what you've done wrong, if the opponent simply outcalculated you completely with no chances to catch up. The positional factors you use to evaluate the position may be in general good, but in this concrete position the engine just calculated deeper and found they are irrelevant for a concrete reason. Of course, something you can drag out of games vs engines, but it's harder, and it's just disgusting to play when your opponent spites out a very strong move EVERY 10 SECONDS or so, without thinking where it is actually needed to make such a move.

In general, I think Lichess really does quite a good job, especially if we compare it to some other sites. However, it could be better. I don't understand why I should report many cheaters that are so blatant (using time uniformly, very high ratings on new accounts) that can be easily highlighted automatically to moderators so they can check out the games and ban without any reports. Not many players here actually care to report, so engine users can play quite a few games before they are banned.

@AndySaffle you do understand that all your games are there to see?

when i read your post i found the numbers to be way too high to be believable

so i've just had a quick look down through your games.

i found 2 people with the "uses chess engines"

and another 2 people who's accounts are closed but one of them you won the game you played

what is it you get out of making stuff up to attack lichess??
