hello, i have checked my next OTB opponent games, he usually plays the french and the chigorin defense, i play both e4 and d4 but i don't like to play against the french so i am planning to play d4. I have seen some video of Gm Finegold on the Chigorin, but i would like to see your opinions also... this is the initial position, what do you think about it?

White is a bit gooder, but that is to be expected, white is almost always a bit more betterer in most openings.
if u have the time to prepare enough against the chigorin line, u probably should have a slight advantage, there must be a reason why its a rare response against the queens gambit.
Just for grins, try 5.ne5... I have had good results with it...
thank you all...this week i am the black, i want to play karo cann, my opponent usually play accelerated panov (1e4... c6 2 c4...d5) i can't find much on line about this line, i have seen it usually goes into the panov-botnick attack, but my opponent usually plays Bc4 and d3, it doesn't seem to give much to me, i think black can have a good game, but by the way he is a master so i am quite woried about the attacking possibilities of white...What do you think about black position? Is just solid as the other Caro-kann variation? My plan is to try to play a6, b4, Bb7, Nd7 , Nf6, and not sure if Be7 or Bg7 in fianchetto...
By the way for the more curios this was the game of last week, after a big scary of have gone wrong somewhere i managed to win after his mistake
