Cheat Detected Question

Hello everyone, I am new to lichess and chess in general. I started watching a streamer Eric Rosen and saw him playing on lichess. This prompted me to give it a try. I noticed he was hitting the analysis during his games and explaining openings and what was most common. I have played 60 or so games on here so far and had never used these tools.

I was playing a game earlier and was waiting on the other player to go and clicked the analysis button and it immediately said "Cheat Detected" and gave the game to the other player. Now I am new and I am sure I did something wrong and I accept the loss for not knowing the rules or reading something in the terms when I signed up.

I read that it is a lifetime ban and I can only play with other flagged cheaters and my rating can no longer go up? I played a couple more games and my rating went up from my win?

I just want to know if I just need to close my account and only play with friends or if there is more to the punishment system?
Maybe someone can explain it to me?

@Mehzinho Thanks for the response. Whatever I did was unintentional, but I will accept the punishment for being ignorant of the rules. Also I do not want to appeal a punishment that I deserve whether it was intentional or not. I made this post for clarity. You said my account does not have a ban on it? Where would it say that if it did?

@TomcatZero Just remember, don't analyze your game if you are in a middle of a game! Lichess's cheat detection systems are very good.

There would be a remark in red, 'this account uses computer assistance' or 'this account violated the terms of service'.

You can double check by trying to play a rated game, if you can you are not banned.

If you can not, there is no other way than to use the appeal.
You can use the appeal to appeal the ban, not the facts leading to it. Just say the truth, and hope for the best.

@annoygenius Yes I understand that now. I was honestly just exploring the menu options. I clicked it and heard the game end sound instantly. Felt like a dummy. I wish it would have given a warning or something. I have really enjoyed my time here so far. But again not looking for sympathy or giving excuses. I totally accept whatever I am due.

@Mehzinho Thanks. I can still play rated right now. Not sure if that means I am good or if it just takes time. I guess I will just wait and see.

@TomcatZero that cheat detection was a warning. Whether the detection was correct or not, don't cheat.

Don't sweat it. Just be careful about having things like analysis boards and studies open mid-game.

I just had all 3 of my current games end with me resigning instantly. Does this mean I am banned?
