Fischer was a strict 1.e4 player, i mean even his quote “e4 best by test”
There is 1 game in which he played 1.b3 and obliterated his opponent, and in the WC match with spassky, he played 1.C4 at least one or two times i think (for sure once) but has he ever played d4?
Fischer's remark on his first move against Leonid Stein in the Sousse Interzonal (game 60 in "My 60 Memorable Games"):
"I have never opened with the QP – on principle."
Apparently Fischer had forgotten about his early game with Altusky. The two games from 1970 took place after Fischer's game collection was published.

On principle of what?

Fischer did not really elaborate on it, other than saying that 1. P-K4 was "best by test" and that the 19th century masters "knew that 1. P-Q4 leads to nothing".

This game is fake. Or rather the data associated with it are, since the moves have been actually been played in an online rapid game between Dmitry Andreikin and Hikaru Nakamura in 2023.
