ARE CHESS PLAYERS ABOVE AVERAGE IN INTELLIGENCE?

I think I have absolved the 10.000 hours several times... Probably one shouldn’t take it literally, it is just meant that you can’t be an expert after some months.

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intelligence
There are uncountable definitions of intelligence so IQ is a rather meaningless number for everything except: that particular IQ test

Don’t know which IQ I was awarded, the test were pretty good way back as far as I remember.

WDR has a bullet rating of 1951 over 165 games. As we all know IQ = rating divided by amount of games, so: 1951/165 = 11,8.

With an IQ of 11,8 that prolly puts him in the top 1% of posters in the lichess forum.

Well, it just seems someone making millions of dollars, wearing a suit, and shaving, just strikes me as a smarter person than what I see on videos in chess tournament halls. If one can’t get basics right I’m not buying he is smart at all.
@jupp53 kudos to you!

Yours is an exceptional improvement and I really tip my hat to it. Care to elaborate on how you did it and how much and what work you put into it? You started at the age of 57, but you had played chess before I assume?

I myself hadn't played chess for about 20 years and came back to it a couple of years ago in my mid 40s. I thought now that I had the time, money and intellectual maturity I could try to really improve my chess and reach a new level. I really worked on it, did tactics every day, had a decent opening repertoire, had a GM coach helping me. I did reach my level of 20 years ago, but no more. Even isolated skills like tactics or blindfold vision were impossible (for me) to really improve.
Maybe I still did it wrong, but I have my doubts.

Master level for me starts at about 2300 (FM).
IQ = bullet rating / # of games = < 1 for the majority of the posters here. That makes sense.
From my observations @Whitedancingrockstar, people with a higher IQ tend to get jealous when they see another with a high IQ, so yours could legitimately be 70-100 points less than that absurd measurement you provided.
