Advice and Mottos for OTB tournaments.

Hello, I'm playing an OTB tournament this weekend and I'm looking for advice. What do you think a good motto is for a weekend tournament as something to repeat to yourself throughout the weekend. I would appreciate your advice. Thank You

The only person that can tell you, "You can't win!" is YOU
But, you don't have to listen!
Adh mor ort

"You can knock me down, down
You can knock me down, down
But I'll fight like the devil
Fight like the devil
Round after round after round"

Best wishes to you! Enjoy the experience! OTB is still the best after all.

Unless there's more than one voice. Then you're in trouble.

An incidentally OP is this mantra supposed to help you win? Most likely what you'll find yourself repeating throughout the weekend is something like: "Only 15 minutes again for lunch?! God, this sucks!"

Make sure your light-squared bishop stays on light squares and your dark-squared bishop on dark squares only. That way they can never get forked by a knight!

Take the time to relieve the stress. Close your eyes, inhale and exhale from the nose, while you smile.
Use what you know best. It's not time to try something new.

In an OTB tournament, you are there to work, not play. So don't bring distractions with you.
Did you pay to get the job done or did you pay to go watch someone else win ?
If you plan on winning, then get the job done on time.

Make sure you play well rested. Do have a good night sleep (8 hours at least) and do all the late night celebration of your won games after the tournament is finished.
