Opening Trap in the English

This is a trap for the Scandinavian response to 1. c4. If they play Nf6 in the style of the modern Scandinavian, you can defend the d pawn with e4. If they take on e4, you get a free knight because of the fork.

I didnt played english opening before, but now i'm gonna try it

Yeah, I personally haven't met a lot of people that respond d5 against c4.

It essentially just gives up a center pawn for a c-pawn. But nice trap!

Thanks everyone! I am surprised because people play the scandanavian against me pretty often when I play c4. Some players premove d5 as their first move... Others just play it because they like scandanavian vs e4. It's a legitimate response but it's not great, even without this trap I don't think I've lost many games to it.

It's a one trick pony move and if your opponent doesn't fall for it, then you are worse off in the resulting game. There's a similar idea with the Sicilian.

I DO NOT recommend either.

Even if they don't take the pawn it's still a good move.

Do you mean this position in the Sicilian from the Morphy gambit? I've had this a couple times. Stockfish thinks blacks position is good but the win rate for black is pretty low.
