What a great game!
After 27. ... Nh4+, the continuation after gxh4 is particularly nice, with Qg4+ followed by e2 forking both rooks. I don't think anyone would want to play that position as White, but Stockfish seems to prefer it slightly over the game's 28. Kg1.
In any case, the finish after that point was very nice.

Interesting detail about White's twenty-eighth move. In any case, as you well stated, Ruiz's position in both cases would be very unpleasant. And, yes, the final shot was great.
