MATE IN 8 FOR WHITE
I missed it and I am 1700 in Blitz. How to improve to see such tricks in lower time control ?

I am a decent fast chess player and to be honest with that time i would not find mate in 8. I would just try to trade the queens and win

First off, a mate in 8 is not a "trick." And I say that even though I didn't find it (and didn't really bother to). And why should you?--especially in a quick game.

Not too many people will be able to find a mate in 8 with 27 sec left. But all I needed to see was 1 Bf8+ Kf6 2 Be7+...game over. Don't get distracted trying to find something more refined...since you may well overlook some hidden resource (and end up losing).

I agree with @MrPushwood
even if I was playing a classical tournament, and had 30 minutes on the clock, I would have simply gone for Bf8 Be7, because I like to conserve my energy in completely winning positions.

My version was Qf8+ Be7+. Qf8+ is a check with one legal move for opponent, so I considered it first.

Why does it matter if I can win the Queen with Bf8-Be7+ ? for me that's the end of a line.

I might play 1. Bf8+ Kf6 2. Be7+ Kf5 3. Qd7+ to win the queen without losing the bishop (and thereby end up playing at least the first 5 moves of the mate), but 3. Qxf7+ followed by grabbing the queen and the queenside pawns is the simplest win.

I tried to find the mate in 8 and gave up and checked with the engine. There are too many candidate checks and the tree of variations has too many branches for my feeble brain. Most of the lines come to composition type positions:

These are all M3

Probably, you'd find the main line if you you were vindictive enough to think 'I want to win the queen AND keep my bishop'
But then would you take the the simple mate in 4 or find the mate in three in the last position?

I agree with @MrPushwood. Any player, whatever the time control, just needs to see 1 Qf8+/Bf8+ Kf6 2 Be7+ ggs.
