Just a little 1+1 miniature vs. a 1760 (I'm 1250-1350), but I think it's pretty darn fun and even instructive despite the time control.
(I honestly think my bullet rating would be under 1100 if it weren't for all the 1650-2000 players I manage to snipe. Sometimes even without them berserking me, like this game. Not bragging but just sayin'... I'm really really bad at time management. For all time controls.)
This game, though... this really made my day. It made my week. I love this game so much.
I usually prefer Albin Countergambit vs. King's Gambit, but in this game I mouse slipped my Petrov knight prematurely. (Surprisingly, according to the opening explorer this *is* a move and it's apparently still called the Petrov: "King's Gambit Declined, Petrov Defense".)
To be fair, the title is a little misleading. SF doesn't strictly speaking *like* my knight sac... says it gives up like a half pawn advantage, but the "refutation" is him declining the sac by giving up the rook without even being able to immediately recapture the knight. *Probably* not a move a human is going to be playing in bullet. [update: nevermind, it's actually just trading the bishop for knight so that the king could run to f1]
But that knight is POISON! Accepting it immediately shifted the evaluation to -7.7 or so. Then comes the king march of doom. I didn't execute it perfectly, but I got the job done. You shouldn't analyze bullet, yeah yeah yeah, but this really made my day (my opponent's 25 second think after the sac was *so* satisfying), and I think it really goes to underline just how paranoid white needs to be about that f2 diagonal in the King's Gambit.
I'm usually a fairly positional player but I'm always on the lookout for tactics vs. King's Gambit no matter the time control, and it really paid off this time. (Good thing, too, because I'd burned through way too much time trying to figure out what the heck was going on after I mouseslipped Nf6)
It's not every day a patzer likes me gets a Morphylike attack like that, let alone vs. someone rated 500 points higher than me. Yeah yeah, I know. It's only bullet.
