Exceptional results - simple training

Is it really a bad thing to play (significantly) more chess than is suggested by your plans? I think that by playing a lot amount and trying to concentrate when I play has helped me improve my chess. Also, how bad are things like bullet/ultrabullet and variants for your actual (i.e. in an otb tournament, for example) chess skills? I tend to play a lot of bullet and some ultrabullet to relax from time to time. For variants, I occasionally play Chess960, Three-Check, and King of the Hill, but not really anything else.
Good mornng , before everthing else , I think we should get more details about the second player .
What is his age , is he / she working ? By comparison when I was a student at the University , now
I am an adult man overwelmed by distressful activities . Two years ago I teached the game to the son of some
emploee of one hotel , a small boy of 8 years . Well , I teached him the combination and in the second game
to made a combination , I resigned in 9 move , seeyng I was going to lose the Queen . The difference between me and him
is that a 8 years you are not burdened by law , burocracy , income tax declaration . Don take me wrong , I am not looking for exscuses ! I was happy of his game and told hie parents that he should be sent to the local chess club. I could have embraced , like did Anderssen when he lost to Morphy.
I forgot to complete the sentence : I wanted to say that when I was a student at the University , I had been able to read an article of the German newspaper "Der Spiegel " about the german reunification after three months of studium , due to intensive studyng . To be honest , I managed to to do the same , to read another article of "Der Spiegel" about my actual work , I managed but with some quite effort !
Best article that I read on chess improvement for a long time! No BS, just do the basics and stick to it.

"Nailing the basics is the most important thing when you try to improve any skill. And that is often done by repetitive, boring training."
Yes, exactly!
