Chess From Position: Dive into Real Random Chess Positions!

I really have no words to describe how amazed I am to see this feature, and so well-crafted too! You really did a good job here with all the features and the concept of playing random positions is something I've thought about for a long time. It really is the way forward for chess improvement and I commend you once again on this brilliant project. I hope this gets the traction it deserves!

Just as a clarification, I've seen this concept online before, but it was never implemented like this. Here there's a possibility to actually play quite normal-looking positions that could arise in your own games, so I see it as a really valuable tool for chess training and improvement.

From the about page I see that popular feature requests may be implemented. I have a feature idea...

It would be nice if there were a convenient way to subscribe to notifications for thematic tournaments (arenas), or have a version of a tournament calendar which only shows thematic tournaments.
Why does it have to be random all the time. Why not give the first move to be the choice of the position, and the unit of competition to be 2 games, either with that position, or with the choice of the opponent starting second in first game.

Either way, in sequences of games the knowledge preparation versus the skill preparation would be negligible.

but the training and learning over many games (including performance games where the big stupid brain is always watching), could still be herded by the smaller and less stupid brain that we call conscious.

The 2 brainz point of view.

Edit: I spoke too soon. It does seem to allow full control of the initial position. Is the detour to the website back to lichess games part of the automatism? Now I need to read the blog with that question in mind. (I only skimmed).

Edit: And yes it does (kind of). I guess, you thought about everything.. Well done. I have been wanting this directly on lichess for ever. Although I would have used 960 also as part of the bag of somewhat balanced initial conditions.

Using SF might be against my religion, but it could be seen as studying SF bias by human means... what does it not detect as imbalance still... I will try to see if one can choose a 960 I.C. (initial configuration if condition not paletable).
