I made the mistake (a few days ago) to start playing rated Blitz again. Now I am losing points (three days in a row).
So I'll follow your advice and pause a few weeks or so. The hidden roots are: depression (not easily to be solved), forgetting opening variants, not seeing tactics fast enough (also a problem of age, not easily to be solved).
Sure training is good, but "seeing tactics in 5 seconds instead of 50 seconds" is an ability. And abilities can be learned, but also un-learned. During training you have lots of time, but in the game everything is different.
The best way to preserve a good rating is playing until you are 35 or 40 years old and then stop playing.
Also really good GMs lose points above the age of 50 (see Michael Adams). Sure you can play on, no problem.
But "improvement" is not always a useful goal.
I can play 5 Blitz games which are quite ok, but 10 or 15 games are too much.
After a row of games I start to play totally nervously, and this is something
which I cannot seem to avoid. This is not a matter of chess of such (because I can play Blitz quite well,
but not so many games in a row).

I would rather spend my time playing someone whos actually good instead of playing with you.
Hi Avetik i really enjoyed this post
but i personally think that the ONLY way to stop making mistakes is not to do anything
but your post was amazing
thank you so much!
About 1 week of pausing from Blitz did not help.
Ok, i won a few games today. I think chess is quite OK. :)
