Thanks alot for the support! Happy holidays
I liked your last blog entry (back rank tactics) more. As those examples were pure tactics there wasn't the need to explain much.

In this entry however I'd like to have the examples a little deeper.
When not to move to the 4th rank? I guess if the rook could be challenged easily. Show some examples where rook lifts went wrong.
How to reach those positions purposefully? Are there any openings where this kind of positions are more common?

Cheers, thanks alot for the feedback! Indeed pure tactics are easier to convey than strategic ideas, especially rarer ones like the 4th rank lifts, which there arent that many examples. And it really does depend on the position. I guess purpose of this post was more to show the rare examples in practical play - In my game (3rd example) I had seen the Keres-Fischer game before (1st example), and thats why a move like Ra8-a5 was something I had on my "radar" (but I still had to make the concrete assessment of the position). And I hope the same thing happens for readers of this article :)

You are an amazing blogger, thanks you!

Also, this “rook lift” technique is something that i would really love to learn, and here is a story:

Back in (i think it was either may or june) i was watched a game on the lichess board cast, it was a classical game, played by i think that it was an FM with with vs a GM with black, and the FM completely crushed the GM, with a rook lift something like ra4 and then rd4, and i was shocked as Ra4 was the top engin move!
