This broadcast boycott is done to encourage the American Chess Federation to improve its ethics, and to support people who have been victims of the acts mentioned in the Lichess article.
the presence of 960 over the board deserves to be broadcasted, but it would be inappropriate to allow such chess organizations with unclear claims and ethical issues to be on Lichess broadcast page or on any chess site.

I agree with @CSKA_Moscou. Since the blog post, has the US Chess Federation and SCC done things to improve their ethics that should warrant Lichess lifting its broadcasting ban?
@CSKA_Moscou As it written in the blog - a lot of chess federations can be attacked based on ethical grounds, if you gonna full on this path you gonna block too many broadcasts, stop cooperating with too many federations (which I am not gonna list here, it's besides the point). So I'd like if everything would be broadcasted as a chess viewer
Of course it's up to Lichess to decide what is present on their platform though, but I just wrote that it's unfortunate.

It seems that Freestyle Chess and Chess 9LX are not alternative names for chess960, they are the names of tournaments that feature chess960. Neither are trying to rename chess960.
