World Rapid and Blitz being absolute meme

> But honestly it's ridiculous, chess is a sport and having 2 champions is meh.
I don't agree. Apart from everything that's boiling under the surface, I like the gesture, and it's not the first time in top level sports.
More humans, less highlanders in sports, that's good.
"in part I believe because tournament wasn't going well for him too. "
I believe this was most likely the real reason though cause his rank was around 80 after day one and even if he had won all next games, his ranking wouldn't be still within 20 and for the GOAT, that's embarrassing I guess.
And last meme was pretty nice.
The jeans gate was ridiculous if there are rules follow them! it isn't too hard is it ? Calling him back for blitz was even more ridiculous yes it was good content but it tells that fide accepted defeat
The jeansgate was stupid but splitting of title was more of a fide's fault and considering in mind that he has to wed pretty soon he shouldnt have played in NYC ..it created absolute mess and literally damaged his reputation
As MarkIorio said, having two champions is known from other sports,I remember it from the Olympics 2021, when two high jumpers (Barshim and Tamberi) shared the title. However, seeing this as a disgrace looks like a very american habit for me. I think in the Olympics 2024 there was a similar situation with an american athlete involved, where they got offered (from the officials) to share the title. The american guy refused, because of course. Well, he got the silver medal, as he wanted, there was only one champion, and it wasn't him.
Carlsen and Nepo showed incredible resiliance under pressure, especially Nepo after being down 0-2 in the final. There are some finals, who don't deserve a losing side. If someone is interested in hockey, the Stanley Cup Final 2024 is a great example. After being down 0-3 in the series, the Oilers had an incredible comeback to tie the series 3-3 only to lose game 7 by a single goal. I am fine that Nepo didn't have such a disappointment, but it is also great, that Carlsen didn't lose it after an almost secured win. As I said, some finals don't deserve a loser, it is fine this one doesn't have it.
