Other experiences

I studied at the University of Missouri in the USA and participated in the chess program there. I had a computer science major but decided to pursue chess as my primary occupation. Since the pandemic, I took a break from playing over the board professionally. I mainly focused on studying the game further, coaching, and playing online (where I managed to grow my rating and continue improving substantially). I'm planning to resume competing in tournaments soon.

In terms of my public domain, I wrote successful blitz repertoire articles, which you can find on Lichess. Currently, I'm working on different projects that will soon become public. I'm sure they will be pretty exciting!

Best skills

I prioritize a rational approach to the game. When I play, I always try to be conscious of my actions. When I coach, you will never hear me say something like, "I just feel this way." Instead, I try to explain all the details and am ready to answer any questions. I believe that one of my biggest strengths is simplifying complicated topics.

Over time, I developed specific guidelines for every major topic. For example, if you need to improve time management, I wouldn't say: "Just try to think more." Instead, I will give you clear guidelines and rules to follow for every time control; additionally, we will discuss related topics, such as practical play, blunder prevention, finding critical moments, etc.

Teaching methodology

I divide the training process into three parts:

1. [Opening] - I have around 10 complete repertoires that my students have successfully used over the years. I also developed a step-by-step system for learning an opening line, which all my students follow.
2. [Decision-making process] - The discussions involve time management, evaluation, calculation, practical decisions, concept creation, psychology, and game control in general.
3. [Knowledge-based studying process] - Basically, everything that answers the following question: "How to play X". Instead of "X", there could be any structure and piece correlation.
