Excellent teacher that will help you improve and understand all aspects of the game. I am a 1800-1900 USCF player who takes weekly 2 hour lessons. Some lessons are focused on a single area of the game, such as specific endgame positions or positional themes. Others are focused on whole instructive games where I'm challenged to find the best moves from the first move to the last. Most importantly, however, Christof is a great communicator, which is a very rare skill among otherwise very skilled chess teachers. For the ambitious student his lessons are extremely valuable for the way he clearly conveys the way a strong chess player thinks. You can become a better player just by listening him talk about a position. If you need any examples of this you might want to check out his Youtube channel. I heartily recommend him as your long term guide for your quest for chess improvement.
After every lesson I have had with Cristof has concluded, I always have at least two or three insightful and straight forward tips to work into my game. But most importantly for me (a humble and entirely casual player), the lessons are always a most enjoyable hour. Christof is a patient and extremely knowledgeable teacher. He provides a wealth of practical advice and is a true pleasure to deal with. I cannot recommend Christof more highly as a chess coach.
Christof is an excellent teacher! He takes the time to look through your games and figure out your weaknesses. During his lessons, he focused on improving my weaknesses. Christof really helped improve my thought process when it comes to tactics. After training with him, I have been able to look for the right moves and calculate more efficiently than I ever have before. He has a wide knowledge of openings and has always given me good recommendations during opening preparation. Since my training began, I've taken down numerous experts and masters in rated tournaments.
A fantastic teacher. I really learned a lot during our lessons. He always has something prepared that is perfect for what you need to improve. He has perfect English and communicates things well in general. I can't recommend him highly enough.
Passionate, lots of experience with teaching, sharp and great positional play, lots of knowledge with the opening, flawless English and very flexible with your schedules, full of anecdotes and stories. You won't find any better qualities for a coach. The time fly during the lesson and you are waiting already for the next one ! This is no surprise that he is working for all majors chess related sites.
About a year ago i started to think about how i could increase my strength a bit better (At this point I was at ELO: 2076). I analyzed my games, looked for some openings, solved puzzles and ... gained no progress. So I had the feeling that I was sacrificing my time without structure and Utility. Because I never had worked together with a coach I was not sure, for which skills I was searching for. I knew and liked Christof`s Youtube Channel for a while, so it made sense for me to start my first experience with Christof as a coach. Even when I hoped to get just some Key-Information It was even more surprising for me, how fast he could sort and define my concrete weaknesses. After analyzing my own games with some programs and commenting my thoughts during the game, he often sees Ideas which I totally missed. I got individual homework (which was requested) for my needs. So it was just a matter of time, until my level increased (ELO: 2171). Last but not least: He is a great guy
On his youtube channel, Christof offers some of the best free chess content on the entire internet, but he is even better as a chess coach. I like his very personalised approach to teaching: He identifies your weak spots and compiles an individually suited study plan to address them. I think this method is the key to improvement at chess. I teach children myself and Christof helped me improve not only as a player, but also as a coach.
Christof has an exceptional knowledge about chess combined with the ability to explain that to his students. Often during training sessions I have the impression he understands my thoughts before I do and is then able to guide me in the right direction and give the right hints. And we always find time to do some smalltalk which loosens up the training a little and - at least for me - makes the training overall more enjoyable.
I have been taking lessons from Christof about a year now and can only say good things about his teaching style and the effect its had on my own progress. Before lessons I was a 1960 USCF and after only a year I've achieved 2080. He focuses on all aspects of the game and discovers your specific weaknesses. Totally worth the price if you seriously want to improve your game.
Christof is a great coach. He really gets to understand what part of your game needs improvement and helps you develop it. He gives good homework for extra studying outside of lessons as well and really shows deep knowledge of the history and theory of the game. Plus, he's just a great guy!
