The Canadian Transnational Chess Championship (CTN), June 3-11, is being co-organized by Annex Chess Club of Toronto and Maplewood Chess Club of Montreal. It will have one of the strongest fields in the history of Canadian chess.

CTN offers three tournaments:

BLITZ in Toronto (Sat June 3): 7 double-round Swiss, 3|2, 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM
RAPID in Toronto (Sat June 3 & Sun June 4): 11 rounds Swiss, 15|5, Sat 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM and Sun 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM
CLASSIC in Montreal (June 6-11 for Crown, June 9-11 for General Sections) – 9 rounds for Crown, 5 round for General, 90|30, morning rounds at 11am and evening rounds at 6pm, 90|30

The CTN's Montreal Classic is also part of the FIDE Circuit 2023. FIDE Circuit is the new path to qualify for the FIDE Candidates Tournament 2024 which will be held in Toronto.

The Crown Section of the three CTN events presently consists of 64 titled players who have FIDE ratings ranging from approximately 2100 to 2651. There are 18 GMs, 19 IMs, 5 WGMs, 14 FMs, 3 WIMs, 2 CMs, 1 WFM and 2 NMs. Non-GMs are seeking to win a norm in the CTN Montreal Classic. The average classical rating of all Crown players is FIDE 2374. The average classical rating of all GMs is FIDE 2542. Fourteen different chess federations are represented. Some of the best junior players in North America will also be in attendance.
