An offline Chess academy:"Logistics, Politics, and Perseverance"
Launching an offline chess academy has been a lifelong dream, but I only truly understood the hurdles once I began! Starting with sessions at home, I soon realized a dedicated space was vital to balance professionalism with a collaborative, welcoming vibe. My goal was to craft a welcoming yet structured environment, inspiring learners of all levels by exposing them to IMs, GMs, and super GMs. I often juggle 2-3 camps simultaneously, managing a 2300+ rating group while other coaches handle different tiers.
oh btw I have been training online for a very long time, but I started my offline academy around 2021.
Biggest Struggles:
- Monthly Costs: Operational expenses on an average 50,000 INR (600 USD).
- Logistical Hurdles:Managing my travel schedules and coach availability is tough. Dealing with conflicts from students, parents, or others can be stressful and makes me want to quit. But seeing the hard work of genuine students and their families keeps me going!
The past 10 days, however, have been pure joy—watching my students achieve milestones reminded me why this journey matters. Sharing these highs and lows feels essential to the process!"
S.Aswath won the strong Grenke open that got over yesterday and made his first GM norm!
M.Anees scored his final IM norm and finished other formalities and became IM in the same Grenke open!
It was great to see 3 of my boys finishing top 4 in the Noisiel open!
Buddy Pranav tied for first at La Roda!
Muthaiah finished 3rd at Basel open
While others excelled in various events, I chose to keep the post brief and uncomplicated.
With more events on the horizon, I’m eager to see my guys dominate every competition.
