Seiyon’s Inspiring Rise: From Toy Shop Chessboard to National Podium
Chess Journey in Singapore
Two years ago, Seiyon from Singapore picked up chess after his father bought a toy shop chessboard. What started as a hobby quickly turned into a passion as he began winning school tournaments and joined his school team.
As a dedicated player, Seiyon balances school and chess practice. He trains regularly, represents his school in tournaments, and is part of the school chess team.
A student of Chess Gaja Academy, Seiyon trains regularly and has grown steadily under expert coaching. He finds inspiration in stars like Praggnanandhaa and Gukesh, admiring their young success.
I had a chat with him where Seiyon shared a favorite game where he played 1.e4 and followed classic opening principles. Even after losing a piece, his queen activity gave him confidence.

Recent Tournament Success
He recently helped his team earn 2nd place at the 65th National Interschool Team Chess Championship (International Schools category), showing composure during a tense hour-long final game.
