As a parent, you're always looking for ways to help your child grow—not just academically, but in confidence, focus, and overall life skills. If you're wondering how to make this summer meaningful for your child, I have a suggestion: introduce them to the game of chess. I’m Grandmaster Priyadharshan Kannappan, and I’ve spent the last 20+ years playing and teaching chess across the world. At Chess Gaja, the academy I founded, we've designed a summer camp that’s perfect for Indian kids who are completely new to chess—or just getting started.

Why Chess?

Chess isn’t just a game. It’s one of the best ways to help your child build essential life skills early on. I’ve seen first-hand how chess improves focus, memory, patience, and even academic performance in young children. And the best part? Kids love learning it when it's taught the right way.
Our goal at Chess Gaja is to give your child a structured and enjoyable introduction to chess—without pressure, but with purpose.

About the Camp

Our India Chess Summer Camp 2025 is conducted entirely online, so your child can learn from the comfort of home. We’ve carefully crafted two levels of the camp:

1. Absolute Beginner Level

  • Ideal for kids who have never played chess before.
  • We teach piece movement, basic rules, and introduce them to the world of chess in a fun and supportive environment.

2. Beginner Level

  • Suitable for children who know how the pieces move and may have played casually or in school tournaments.
  • We work on basic tactics, opening ideas, and build their understanding of the game.

  • Structured curriculum with lesson tracking through our LMS.
  • Real practice through online tournaments and exercises.
  • A chance to continue beyond the camp in our regular group programs.

At Chess Gaja, we’re proud to be trusted by families from over 30+ countries. But as someone who grew up in India and learned chess here, I’m especially passionate about helping Indian kids experience the beauty and benefits of this game.
