Gambits for U2000 players, part 1
Now that I got lots of U2000 rated followers I'd like to share some unusual gambits for you ...... which may be fun for blitz or bullet games and to hopefully surprise your opponents.
First one is the b4 gambit in the Scandinavian Defense, Qa5 line. Black is basically obliged to grab the pawn as declining gives white a nice position.
As a result white can sometimes get nice play over the light squares and the half open b file.
- The Scandi b4 gambit with Qf3 : https://lichess.org/study/ldPPxhSl/qW6TTSHL#7
- A fresh game with delayed gambit and Nf3. Not a very good game but just to give you an example of some fireworks on the chess board that can happen. https://lichess.org/study/ldPPxhSl/z2MCjvty#9
- The full game of the previous study with Lichess Stockfish analysis. https://lichess.org/Sw96V6cm/white#9
Background story : Many years ago when I played on FICS (freechess, when Lichess was not born yet) I played the Scandi as black and an opponent surprised me with the b4 gambit which I didn't know. And I got crushed in that game. A memorable loss and a good lesson! :)
