A peek at a few games from Sants Open 2023
Here the 56 year old GM Simen Agdestein played this move which caught my eye. It is not a new move, it occurs 4 times in the Lichess Masters database. After white grabs the pawn on e5 it becomes clear that black had compensation in mind : piece activity and the bishop pair in a fairly open position. The GM won.
Young GM Liam Vrolijk uncorks a novelty with 11.g3-g4. Not a flawless game but white won.
In the following game, according to Stockfish black's 8...e5 is a mistake, after which white has a clear advantage.
The Italian GM Alberto David playing white came up with the interesting looking and correct move 12.d3-d4 but the game against the 2000+ untitled player from Croatia ended in a draw.
