The Tale of Benevolent White King Øhr, or, Execution by alignment. Mate in 2

Puzzle
White to play and mate in 2. To go to the study click on the 3 dots under the diagram and then 'view on lichess' You can move the pieces around and use computer analysis, the second chapter has the solution.

This is not the hardest of problems for those into problem solving, it's aesthetic value (if any) is in the two different patterns emerging, weirdly similar in configuration, two pure mates* with different pieces, based on a similar concept.

Tip: look for lines, horizontal, and diagonal.

And it comes with a story.

* Both mates are pure mates: A checkmate where the opposing king is attacked only once, and each square adjacent to the king is attacked by exactly one enemy piece. (or occupied by one of his own pieces - not an option here)

Benevolent White King Øhr.

After a very gruesome and tense battle, the outcome was evident to all, a mating net was woven around the black king. The white pieces awaited orders on how to deliver the final blow. Their monarch thanked them for their blind devotion, and demanded a swift and painless end for his counterpart. They were related after all.
Lots of commotion followed, gesturing, shuffling and whispering, everyone wanted to please King Øhr, he was a scary person. Serene, but scary, even the rooks agreed on that. According to one of the pawns, a knight and a bishop claimed mate in three, only to be met by a dry 'nah, not enough.' by the rook. Finally, someone came up with just the move and whispered it into king Øhr's ear. Mate in 2!

'We are content' came the calm response. He looked down from his throne on f7 and declared in his usual icy soft voice:
'Sire! thou shall perish by alignement. However, in an act of benevolence, thou shall be granted the opportunity to choose the formation that will forever mark thou end.' (maybe there were a couple of 'thous' less, all this is hearsay)

The Black King stood there confused, pondering on how bad an idea it was after all to marry his second cousin, Øhr's niece. Then, the move was made and he understood. Seeing his options, the words became clear. He could choose to be stung after being poisoned, or try to avoid the crossbow and probably end up in the church. He despised the clergy, even had a soft spot for the Lutherans.
A long tradition of hippophila in the family was the decisive factor, he decided to rest in the company of those beautiful white steeds for ever, surrounded by their majestically comforting power. Or is it comfortingly majestic he wondered.
"'Comfortingly', what a funny word, tingly, confort picotement!, mais oui! haha! And how appropriately comforting in its silliness ...or is it comfortingly appropriate..."
Those were his last words. Some said it was the poison. Øhr not.

"Natus incertus, incerte pugnavit, incerte mortuus est"*
*"Born uncertain, fought uncertainly, died uncertainly".
Carved on his tombstone. By the clergy.
