FAVORITES: Geller vs Kogan 1946
Return with me to a time long ago...when Geller looked less like the Russian Bear and more like Dick Miller! :Dhttps://lichess.org/c8EX0Ny8#35
I remember this game making quite an impression on me the first time I saw it. I mean, here was a guy who wasn't even a master and he was playing something genuinely inspired (if not downright crazy!). Incidentally, this was a time when chess still had the aura of creativity about it (and wasn't quite so much about accounting as art).
A few years later, Yefim tied for 3rd with Taimanov in the USSR championship final, just a half-point behind Smyslov and Bronstein. Not bad for a guy who was--if I'm remembering right--still just a first-category player. :)
So do your best to ignore all the bean-counting from Mr Transistor--and just enjoy the sheer wackiness of The Game Where Everything Hangs!
