Chapter 1 The Beginning

All Stories have a beginning The Chronicles of Atomic is no exception. In the beginning Lichess created a new realm Atomic it was the newest of all realms. Who would wield the power of this world? The vast elo ranges or the unexplored lines. There had to be some pioneers who would settle and grow this new realm. Many scoffed at the idea of exploring a new realm so many others already existed what would make this one different? The brave few that dared enter this world had no idea what they had begun.

Chapter 2 Stockfish Descends to Atomic

The first explorers of this new world had a very hard time in finding true atomic for there were so many lines countless traps and counters what could teach them all this. Some developed basic strategies such as charging the D pawn down all the way or others thought of atomic Chess more from a standard Chess perspective and more refined techniques. Again the Lichess the creator took heed to the peoples cries and granted them Stockfish it was a an engine that had been granted to all other realms it had tapped into all of their secrets, traps, blunders, brilliancies and brought it all together. It was a success Stockfish was now like a book granting wisdom to all and as new things grew stockfish would grow with it. Power came new strategies and infinite knowledge was now available Who could want anything more?

Chapter 3 The Blight

Who could want anything more? People asked themselves if they saw the untapped power of the engine. Until they found the answer to that question to become it. This same thought had devoured and scourged hundreds of realms since the beginning of modern chess. Everything was going along perfectly until the moderators (the guardians of lichess chosen by the founder) had discovered the blight's spread into the new realm. They had to do something or this realm would be destroyed before it had barely begun to live. They appointed a guardian in charge of the realm he had the power to destroy the blight infested accounts and cleanse the realm. The down side not everyone was always guilty. Some time passed and the world had started anew the blight's power was diminishing and accounts grew and grew more powerful. Most of these were titled players to a great surprise they had taken a liking to this strange variant. Some of these were
FM CasperryLiu, LM Onubense, LM Fast-Tsunami, GM Arka, and many more. These players had brought there already extraordinary talent from other realms and became legends in Atomic.
We will Take a look at them in detail now except the LMs to save time.

Chapter 4 The First Legends

The first one we are going to talk about is

FM Sutcunuri

This FM created one of the trickiest strategies in Atomic Chess the Qb3 line which will be demonstrated in the following game

As you may have noticed that trap can be quite powerful allowing Sutcunuri to gain his high score of 2577.

GM Arka50

GM Arka is a three time AWC world champion
here is the final match between Arka50 and Onubense both titled players in their 2017 match!

Notice the skill of this GM it is no wonder he won the AWC 3 times

NM Tipau

He is has around one of the highest ratings ever gained in atomic chess 2800! He is also 2016 world champion.

By now you probably have noticed that titled players were extraordinary in Atomic Chess and continue to be to this day.

Chapter 5 The New War

Before we had learned that some titans had gone to the engine in search of truth others thought power was in a strategy and went along trying to find Zerathos the master strategy. Now atomic was divided in two The Strategons and the Arkhons. Some strategons believed the Qb3 line was the Zerathos of old. The Arkhons refused to believe such malarkey as a master strategy and thought

There's only one way to win be better than the opponent!

The quarrel will continue until either side is destroyed or the Zerathos is found.

Chapter 6 The Golden Age of Titans

We have previously learned much about the growth of atomic and how high scores got this was the Atomic Golden Age elos from 500 all the way to 3000 reigned. Atomic was truly looking for a prosperous realm. The blight had almost ceased to exist but it did have some major triumphs like micuentatmr who used an engine to get to legendary scores. Everyday more people joined the atomic community it became more and more known. The titans were formed. These titans ruled every point from 2500 to 3000 they were true power. A long time went on and still everything was prosperous. But change began to come soon the titans would fall to a new plague one that was designed to rid the world of the blight once and for all. Here is a game right before the fall.

This was a pretty good game though still many mistakes. This is because as we learned earlier stockfish slowly would develop so their techniques weren't as polished. Also another factor to that is that the time control was set to 1/2 a minute not leaving much time to think. If you have any thoughts on this game please leave comments in the forum at the end.

Chapter 7 The Fall

The moderators had been doing a good job in cleansing the blight but there were still problems People didn't seem to ever stop cheating sandbagging or other horrible crimes that take place with the blight higher ratings were caused because of boosting and sandbaggers. Eventually the moderators agreed that enough was enough they had a scheme that would forever restrict the amount of points an account could get. They did this by making points much harder to earn as your skill increased. Or banning sandbaggers and boosters when too high a rating was achieved. This is still going on to this day there is still a barrier this was the first blow soon the titans would fall.

Chapter 8 Time Is Against Us

The realm of atomic was created in 2014 many years have gone by. New legends were learning and growing the titans' power began to die soon one by one they started to leave stepping down from their thrones giving up the chances of new titans they entrusted their positions to few who began to grow. Rating groups started dropping in numbers. Soon there was only a few titans left.

Chapter 9 The Last Titans

There were a select few that stayed for a little while longer, but soon the final events would hit ending the Titans. The last titans had long since been knocked down from their splendor and where now diminishing in power. Also as we have said before stockfish was getting better more lines new ideas and perspectives grew with this allowing new playing style such as this one modern atomic game :

Chapter 10 The End of the Titans

New powers had risen the titans were almost extinct there was no way to bring them back it was sure that atomic would never be the same one by one the last titans laid down their power. They have now moved back into the realms in which they were forged. The last titan had fallen. In his place came many more successes and disappointments. Atomic would never be the same that is all that is certain.
