ChessFinity - a chess & variants sandbox

Ever had a chess idea that didn't fit the 8x8 board?
A pawn that moves sideways. A queen that needs to recharge. Gravity. Mana. 10 players.
I've always loved chess, but what fascinates me most isn't memorizing openings — it's wondering what happens if you change just one thing or leant into it and wanted to see how far you could push chess and have it remain chess?
Lichess already offers an amazing range of variants. But some experiments are just too strange for standard platforms to support.
So I built ChessFinity — a sandbox project based on chess principles, but made to be messed around with.

The inspiration was the lack of any real places to play 3d chess and have real control over the setup ( of course ; the chess site that shall not be named does a pretty good job - but I think it could be better )

It's not about replacing chess , I think chess is here to stay and is immutable by public acceptance - it's about opening up possibilities and giving the players the opportunity to play something new and leverage their prior skill and knowledge. Make what you want and see how it feels vs a bot or your mates.
