Elite Bullet Tournament - 26th September 2021
Shaky start but things started looking up....Hi all
I have scheduled a premiere video for my commentary on this event yesterday here:
(My Lichess playlist is here: http://kingscrusher.tv/lichess )
Three of my better games:
White to play:
Ooops!:
Nice opening start against young super-talented player (who usually crushes me!) :

I had some fun after a scary start! In the end I was very near to the Podium - 4th place but equal on points technically to the 3rd placed player. I couldn't quite believe it after the bad start I had.
Cheers, K
Takeaway points
- If you have the outrageous idea of "Why must I lose to this idiot?" (Nimzovich) not that anyone was an "idiot" but this psychology is useful instead of the usual despair, wanting to leave the tournament, upset, self-doubt, etc, then you can look forward to a turnaround where you start crushing everyone and having more fun later! It is good to have 51% confidence according to Kasparov - slightly over-confident
- As an IM coach I once had indicated - chess results are often about thresholds. A slightly higher threshold in game advantages or slightly better moves and resourcefulness can turn losses into draws or wins. So don't despair - instead try and tweak your game a little!
- Probably if you study a lot of Tal games, you get more outrageously confident and can handle losses more with a positive attitude
- Somehow with some tweaks - trying to play a little quicker, I had some good runs of wins after the shaky start
- Don't try and form or make jokes when streaming - it just tends to weaken yourself tactically. Bullet requires extreme focus. Making silly jokes like my opponent's not training for my openings, didn't help me find key resources when needed.
Hope you enjoyed this blog :). Any likes and follows are really appreciated. Also, I also have some interesting chess courses at https://kingscrusher.tv/chesscourses to check out.
