Qchess.net winrate repertoire generator is a game changer

I like new chess tools that enhance the effectiveness of studying chess. In previous blogs, I wrote about the Forward Chess search function and Chessvision.ai.

Over the past week, I have been working with the developer of Qchess.net on integrating the Lichess user database into his opening repertoire generator. As a Chessable author, I rely heavily on the Lichess user database to design my courses for club players. This new tool accelerates my course development and is a real game-changer for me.

What is the Qchess.net winrate repertoire generator?

The Qchess.net website's "winrate repertoire" tool lets you quickly generate a complete chess opening repertoire that can be used for training on platforms like Lichess, ChessBook, or Chessable.

Here is a summary of the key points:

  • Goal: Generate a complete, engine-proof opening repertoire based on the highest winning percentage for a specific position.
  • Data Sources:
  1. Your Moves: Generated using Qchess's Elite Database (2200+ rated games) combined with an engine. Moves are chosen based on the best win rate/score.
  2. Opponent's Moves: Generated using the Lichess user games database (for instance, 1600+ rated rapid and classical games) to ensure the repertoire is practical against common club-level play.
  3. Engine Proofing: The tool uses a Chess Cloud Database of 54 million Stockfish-evaluated positions to quickly check evaluations and ensure the generated lines are sound without having to run a full Stockfish analysis for every move.
  • Usage and Import:
  1. The complete repertoire is generated as a PGN file.
  2. To import into a platform like Lichess, ChessBook, or Chessable, the user must manually insert the opening moves that occurred before the starting position was set for the repertoire generation.
  3. Quality Assurance: In my video, I show how I use ChessBook's "next gap" feature to easily identify and add any missing lines, ensuring full coverage of the repertoire.
  • Cost: The Qchess.net tool is entirely free. Please support the developer with your donations.

I have no affiliations with Forward Chess, Chessvision.ai, or Qchess.net.
