A peaceful resolution

Featured is the 4th game between Magnus Carlsen and Ian Nepomniachtchi from the finals at the 2024 FIDE World Blitz Chess Championship. With Carlsen leading the match 2-1, he needed only a draw with white to secure his 7th World Blitz Chess Champion title. Nepomniachtchi however struck back with the French Defense in spectacular fashion to level the match. Carlsen and Nepomniachtchi would go on to play fighting draws in games 5, 6 & 7. After the 7th game, the players had a brief discussion about sharing first place. FIDE agreed, and history was made. This is the first time chess has had co-champions for the world blitz chess title.
