2 members

Today's Chess was first invented and played a thousand years ago in ancient Gangaridai(Currently Bangladesh and parts of South India). Its name was Chaturongo where 4 players played with their 4 sets of pieces in one board. Any King can attack one or more Kings or even can help each other like a real war. Many old temples in Bangladesh still you can find sculpture or other paintings showing ancient kings are playing this game. The Bishop is actually called Elephant, Queen is called Prime Minister or simply Minister, Pawn called Soldier, Rook called Boat, Knight called Horse and King is called the same. There are also some temples where you can see paintings of Krishna and Radha playing Chaturanga(3200 BC). read more in the wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaturanga
